Venice Bridge Museum - 2006 architectural competition

2nd Honorable Mention (Poetic Project)

Description

The brief calls for a 'bridge museum design' which acts both as a gateway into the Grand Canal as well as reinforcing the existing pedestrian route that unites the entire central neighbourhood of San Marcos, Venice through a series of squares and pathways.

The 'bridge museum' attempts to both separate and integrate the bridge and museum functions - conceptually and experientially. The bridge itself is a simple, elegant, crossing device.

Contemporaneously it is an event platform that connects the two main sections, elongating the experience of the museum and forcing a 1:1 scale experience of the city.
