‘Rachel’ is the outcome of a collaboration between Mulloway and Cameron Raynes. Developed as a response to Port Adelaide Enfield’s Dale Street Integrated Art project brief ‘Rachel’ is a story-based sculptural piece. Through our aim to create work that is poetic, engaging, unexpected, and is born of place, our objective is to set up a dialogic scenario that changes the way people see that place.

‘Rachel’ is primarily a story. A story built around Port Adelaide’s imagined history and then displayed in the street through a sculptural piece. Referencing the three-part nature of the story, the built form is a 3-tower structure. Slightly ‘anthropomorphic,’ the form encourages close inspection and personal conversation and immersion.

The work embodies an episodic approach as a series of chapters are released over time changing the work and responding to external input. As a community engagement strategy, the work encourages people to contribute to possible plot lines and characters, allowing it to develop in unexpected ways.
