Urban Design Award: Australian Institute of Architects SA
Posted Monday, 6 July
Our work with Aspect Studios on the Hart’s Mill projects was recognised on Friday at the AIA’s annual awards presentation evening with an Architecture Award for Urban Design. This outcome is great to see following the beginning of this journey back in 2007. Built on the cultural mapping programme we undertook for the LMC and now working with Renewal SA, the outcomes are well founded. That significant resource allows us as designers to make decisions based on historic authenticity. From an urban perspective, we have taken a position that the work should retain its gritty surrounds and seen as a seed or catalyst for a range of ongoing programmes and events. The Loop Path and Flour Shed act together with the Playground and market space to provide different experiences, support different events and at the same time reveal the significance of the place.
